The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation''s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

The Oswego American Legion Post #675 was founded in 1932 and chartered in 1933. The post has been at the present location, 19 W. Washington since 1947. It has expanded from the original two story house to include the banquet hall and downstairs bar/dining area. The post is also home to the Ladies Auxiliary Unit and the Sons of the American Legion Squadron. We charter two Boy Scout troops and participate in many scouting events and ceremonies. The post sponsors the annual Memorial Day parade, and also the Veterans Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Plaza. Our organization also participates in many of the Village of Oswego activities and events.
